5 Organization Tips & Tricks for Moms

Have you seen my purse? Where’s the changing pad for the diaper bag? What did I do with that extra pacifier? WHY, OH WHY are there 8 thousand baby toys in every. single. room?!

Sound familiar? I get it, Mama. You’re tired, busy, and oh, so stressed because nothing ever seems to be in the same place you left it. So here are my top 5 organization tips and tricks for keeping mama’s sanity!

  1. Multi Use Diaper Bag

This might seem like a no brainer, but the last thing you want to deal with is having too many bags to carry at once! Simplify things by having a diaper bag that can also function as your purse. 

I have a super cute backpack style diaper bag that is so convenient for me to toss my wallet, keys, and a small bag to stash my lipstick, hand sanitizer, and other personal items. 

  1. Functional & Cute Baskets

It can be so easy to let your home become overrun by all of those adorably small baby toys that you always seem to step on. One thing I like to do is keep a cute, decor basket that can be carried from room to room while containing all of the toys. 

This makes things so much easier for moving about the house, but also keeping it nice and tidy! Besides, who doesn’t love a cute basket?!

  1. Use Stations 

Stations have been a life-saver in our household! For all of the major tasks such as baby food and bottle making, diapering, and even play time, we have a station for it!

For diapering, we use a diaper caddy to keep a changing pad, wipes, diapers, and diaper cream stored on the first floor, and we use the actual changing table when we are upstairs. For bottles and food prep, we keep all of the bottles and storage containers in one spot, along with the formula. This is conveniently located right by the water filter so that we aren’t having to move around too much in the kitchen. For playtime, we have a few different stations setup that allow for different stimulation and help to keep baby girl entertained. 

  1. Plan Ahead

This might be the one thing that helps me to keep my sanity – if I don’t plan ahead for meals and anything we might have going on outside of the norm (i.e. doctor’s appointments, work events, etc), then the week will automatically be hectic. 

I like to take time on Saturday morning to plan for the next week. I plan out our meals, look at the various events/meetings we might be having, and I make sure that we have everything we need to get through the week without having to make multiple runs to the store. It’s amazing how taking one hour out of your day can save you HOURS of time throughout the week. 

  1. Create a Routine 

Honestly, enough said. If you don’t have a routine, then you can easily feel overwhelmed. Try to be consistent in what you do every morning and every evening. 

For me, this is getting up to workout, do my Bible study, and sneak in some side work before getting ready for my actual 9-5 job. In the evening, as soon as I walk in the door, I get started on dinner, feed Sarai her dinner, we eat, play, and do her nighttime routine so that she is in bed no later than 8pm. This gives me about an hour or two to myself to do my nightly tidy, finish up any work I wasn’t able to get done in the morning, and get ready for the next day.
